Balloon (Adrift) - A dynamic working draft
I’m adrift out at sea
On an old creaky ship
The winds are a stirrin’
And I’m not equipped
I don’t Know where I am
Though I know I am Here
Confused and bemused
While others seem clear
Are there monsters beneath me
That I cannot see
And could I escape them
If I try to flee
Or should I wait here
And just not make a move
Until there are options
From which I can choose
I’m a leaky balloon
Just playing my tune
And I’m out of key
So you might want to flee
With this map upside down
There’s no religion I’ve found
And almost any I find
I Would leave behind
Though I may drop it off
At the old city pound
For somebody else
To adopt, or put down
She says praise Jesus
He says, Allah
Me, I chew leaves
Like a baked Koala
Some say there’s a God
Others say none exists
Who’d have to be wrong
For You to be pissed
I’m a leaky balloon
A total buffoon
Sad man on the moon
Alone, Watching cartoons
Some might walk left
Others march right
Many decide just
To stand and to fight
I’ve tried those paths
But still I am here
Paddling air, cause
My oar disappeared
And I’m getting bitter
Which wasn’t my wish
Stuck in this ocean
And I’m not a fish
But if there is a pill
That can help me grow gills
Find me a dock
There’s a script to fulfill
I’m an untied balloon
Who’ll be down to Earth soon
Just hear as I croon
To you like a loon
